Tech Apps Standards Homepage
This website shows some of the State Board of Education (Texas) Technology
Application Standards as they relate to me as a Graduate student and as an
elementary school teacher. The site will begin with Standard XI - Web
Mastering. Since this standard is for teachers of students in grades eight
through twelve, I will provide narrative regarding knowledge that I have gained
and skills that I have applied in ETEC 525, which is a course for graduate
students at Texas A & M - Commerce. I am currently working on a
Master's degree in Elementary Education and am applying ETEC 525 toward one of
my electives. The other standards which I will share with the viewer and
discuss in brief narrative are Standards I, II, and III. Of Standards I -
X, these three Standards are most relevant to me.
Each of the Technology Application Standards are divided into items
identified as either "Teacher Knowledge: What Teachers of (name
of standard, i.e. Web Mastering) Know" and items identified as
"Application: What Teachers of (name of standard) Can Do."
This format is similar to the TEKS, Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills,
required of Texas public school students. Each of the Technology
Application Standards has from three to twelve knowledge statements and from
eight to forty-nine skill application statements. The format of the
statements are as follows, using Standard XI as an example: 11.7k is the
seventh knowledge statement in Standard XI and 11.25s is the twenty-fifth skill
application statement in Standard XI. Throughout the Technology
Application Standards on-line are one- or two-digit numbers left-aligned above
either "Teacher Knowledge..." or "Application.."
headings. These numbers indicate the page numbers of the Standards as seen
in the actual document.
